Smokey Joe’s Restaurant and Bar Hosts
Popular Guitarist Alan Isenberg

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Alan Isenberg, talented guitarist and harmonica player, will play acoustically at Smokey Joe’s, 210 S. 40th Street, on Sunday, April 23 from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Smokey Joe’s, affectionately dubbed “Smoke’s” by its patrons, has been a beloved institution on the University of Pennsylvania campus since 1933.

“We are thrilled that Alan is going to play at Smokey Joe’s. Our relaxed atmosphere and his soulful music will make a great combination,” says Owner Paul Ryan. The event will feature two live acoustic sets played by Isenberg, primarily covering songs by the ever-popular Dave Matthews Band. Isenberg has performed in informal venues around the world, ranging from his hometown of Chicago to the beautiful city of Venice. He has studied the guitar and harmonica for over 11 years. A junior at Penn, Isenberg is also a regular customer at “Smoke’s.”

Smokey Joe’s embodies the best qualities of a college bar, from good, filling food to a wide selection of beers on tap and bottled, and all at a great value. Some of their savory menu items include the Ed Rendel Burger, eight ounces of the finest grade beef with bacon and American cheese, Chicken Parmesan, tender chicken breast covered with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese, and the BBQ London Chop Sandwich, juicy London chop smothered with barbecue sauce served atop a toasted kaiser bun.

Smokey Joe’s offers guests a history- filled dining and drinking experience, as the restaurant is decorated from floor to ceiling with signed photographs and other memorabilia of famous athletes from Penn or Philadelphia. A hand-painted mural above the entryway depicts renowned characters and monuments from Philadelphia’s past and present, from Rocky to Boathouse Row.

Smokey Joe’s is located at 210 S. 40th Street. The hours of operation are from 11 a.m. – 2 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and 12 pm – 2 am Sunday. Customers must be 21 or older with valid proof of age after 9 pm. For more information, please call 215.xxx.xxxx.
